Getting Started
Please read the Board Safety insert and use common sense.
Consider starting your balancing journey on a soft surface such as carpet, a yoga mat or even grass. Initially you may want to hold on to a wall or other stable object to get the feel of balancing on Axle Board. As you progress, transition to balancing on harder surfaces such as hardwood or vinyl flooring, asphalt, or cement. Remember, the faster the balance object can roll and move, the more challenging the balance experience.
To get on your Axle Board, stand with the board in front of you with the logo “Axle Board” facing you. Tilt the board so that the ends of the two arms closest to your body are on the ground. Step your non-dominant foot (for most riders this will be your left foot) onto the respective arm of the board in alignment with the marking that corresponds to the measurement of your specific bicycle. Place your dominant foot onto the forward position of the opposing arm to achieve a proper offset stance. Slowly shift your weight forward until the Axle Board is balanced.
As you build your balancing skills, here are some tips to keep in mind:
- Keep your knees bent, back straight and head in an upright posture.
- Focus on a single point to help maintain your balance.
- Move the Axle Board in a slow, controlled manner without looking down at your feet.
Use gentle movements as you gain familiarity with the Axle Board. Add in additional motions such as front to back, side to side and rotational movements as your skills grow.
